FRIDAY, MAY 6 --- Depart for Walnut Creek OH---Arrive for shopping and lunch on own at Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek.
--- Visit the family-owned Coblentz Chocolate Company. Inside this charming building, visitors can actually watch as more than 40 types of choco-concoctions come to life. The store features a large retail area, selling all that chocolate, plus more than 200 varieties of bulk candy. Pick up a pre-packed box of candy or select your own favorites. Many varieties of sugar-free candy are also made here. One bite and you've discovered Amish Country's sweet side!
---Take a factory tour of Homestead Furniture, where you can see the Amish craft beautiful wooden furniture… from Country to Classic to Shaker styles.
---Next is a visit to Winesburg Carriage Factory and Museum. Guests will view the manufacturing of all the Amish carriages, buggies and sleighs. Step into the museum to view the past and present modes of transportation, and learn the difference between brown buggies and black buggies and their significance.
---Check into hotel. Take a few minutes to freshen up.
--- This evening we will enjoy an Amish Wedding Style Feast, at an Amish family home. The room will be set up as an Amish Wedding would be, and three couples from your group will set at the head table as the bridal couple and attendants. After dinner your host and / or guide will explain the Amish wedding ceremony and celebrations to the group.
---- Return to the hotel.
SATURDAY, MAY 7
---Enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast at the hotel including hot waffles, to begin the day.
---All Aboard….
---We start the day with a visit to the Swiss Village Bulk Store in Sugarcreek, where you’ll find lots of goodies.
---Next we will stop at the Hershberger Truck Patch and Amish Bakery to enjoy the aroma of the best fresh baked pastries in the county! Pick out a donut, stuffed cookie, or decadent cream stick to enjoy later or while you are there watching the farm animals including Big Ben, the largest Belgian draft horse in Ohio! Browse the large selection of fresh local produce and take home some summer ripened fruits and vegetables!
---We will then continue to Guggisberg Cheese. Many years ago, Ohio’s largest Amish population longed for good cheese. So they sent word to Switzerland, where Alfred Guggisberg had achieved notoriety as a cheese maker of the original baby Swiss cheese. Today this Swiss chalet produces over 2,500 wheels of baby Swiss each day!! Taste testing is encouraged. (May be replaced with Heini's Cheese according to Saturday production schedules)
---Take time for a buffet lunch at Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen. Mrs. Yoder's is in Mount Hope, a little town that has kept much of its Amish and agricultural character. Horses and buggies are hitched along the restaurant's post, because the Amish are about half the clientele.
--- Lehman’s General Store, founded in 1955, where you can browse and shop where the Amish shop...from unique oil lamps, cookware, butter churns, hand tools, collectibles, carving tools, hand pumps, and so much more. See why people from dozens of countries come to Lehman’s. The Quilt Shop nearby is considered one of the finest in the country Here you can purchase quilting supplies, or even a hand-made Amish quilt.
