All Aboard…..as we travel to Rockville, Indiana….what a great time of the year to travel Indiana!!!!!!

Our first stop is at the Covered Bridge Festival headquartered on the courthouse lawn in Rockville, Indiana.  You’ll find food served by many of the non-profit organizations of the county that use funds from the Festival to promote their organizations throughout the year.

Lunch is on your own, then there’s time to shop.

A large tent near the courthouse is filled with crafters and vendors for your shopping  delight.  Some vendors have been here since the festival began in 1957. Free entertainment is scheduled on the south side of the courthouse throughout each day.  Antique stores and shops around the brick lined streets of Rockville invite you stop by for a visit. You never know where you might find that one of a kind item you have been looking for, or something no one else has. The Covered Bridge Art Gallery on the north side of the square is open daily for your viewing of local artists’ displays.

Starting at 2 PM, we will enjoy a narrated driving tour of Parke County, with its scenic back roads and covered bridges.  Relive America’s past through the county’s many restored historic buildings and communities.

Dinner  will be included at the Mayberry Café, a restaurant that you might expect to see if you were able to visit the fictional town of Mayberry, from the Andy Griffith television show. From the squad car out front to the table clothes to the pictures on the wall, everything you see transports you back to that small town in North Carolina. You might even find yourself looking over your shoulder, waiting for Barney or Andy to stop by for dinner. But, even if you do not see any of the Mayberry town folks dropping in, you can still watch them in an episode, showing on televisions throughout the restaurant.

Trip includes transportation, free time at the Festival, covered bridge guided tour and dinner.  Lunch is on your own.  Payment is due seven days after booking.  No refunds after September 16, 2010, unless your seat can be sold.  Bus will depart from Decatur Plaza at 7:30 AM and return at approximately 9:15 PM.  A pick up in Fort Wayne is also available.   Minimum of 30 required to offer this trip.
